Responsibilities:Primary responsibility of the Lead Watershed/Hydraulic Modelerwill be to lead modeling staff on multiple projects to analyze data and apply modeling techniques related to hydrology and hydraulics (H&H). Typical project work includes analysis of urban drainage systems to characterize frequency and magnitude of capacity limitations, and subsequent development of cost-effective solutions to reduce flooding and/or discharges of pollution to ambient waterways. Typical tasks include application of commercial and in-house software to statistically and graphically analyze data, develop and calibrate watershed and hydraulic models, application of models to develop and evaluate control alternatives, and periodic documentation of methods and results in written reports and verbal presentations. Occasional field work with trips to project sites is also possible. Preference given to self-motivated candidates with strong oral and written communication skills who are able to lead a project team to successful task completion. Hiring preference will be given to Section 3 eligible residents.
