Internship Program Statement
The internship program at Volkswagen Group of America Chattanooga Operations is intended to provide college / university students and recent graduates the opportunity to use and develop skills they have learned in the classroom by working at our state-of-the-art production facility, and to provide Volkswagen Chattanooga the opportunity to develop talent for potential future entry-level positions.
Our internships are full-time positions (40 hrs/week). Candidates will be expected to be available to work during normal business hours (Monday - Friday; exact hours will vary by position and some positions might require work on Saturdays). To be eligible for the internship program, candidates are required to be enrolled at an accredited post-secondary educational institution, or have graduated from one within the 6 months prior to the start date of the internship . Candidates who do not meet this guideline will not be considered. This position will start on August 13th 2018 and end on December 21st 2018. Intern for the Planning - Construction & Enviornmental team. As a local intern, the applicant shall:
Learn the engineering process and standards of Volkswagen, Learn needs and requirements of production processes Assist in different fields of engineering projects and continuous improvement Be responsible for engineering tasks defined during the internship period. Organization of planning programs to define and execute engineering and facilities infrastructure projects. Preparation, introduction and coordination of engineering proposals and measures. Coordination and tracking of project timelines and actions. Presentation of project progress, risks, opportunities and financial results. Collaborate with other departments: quality, production control, manufacturing, and Plant Engineering to ensure inter-departmental communication is maintained.
3 or more years completed towards Engineering degree from an ABET accredited University.
Basic Knowledge of:
Analytical and conceptual thinking - using logic and reason, creative and strategic Project Management - Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously Communication skills - interpersonal, presentation and written Computer skills - skilled in the use of software and industrial networking Influencing and negotiation skills Problem solving
Strong understanding of Engineering Methodology Knowledge of general Engineering and Architectural practices and designs Environmentally Conscious
Knowledge of Lean Concepts Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously Experience in Project Management Project Financial knowledge Experience or knowledge of implementation of Engineering changes.
Pay Rates based on level of education:
Junior $18/hour Senior and beyond $20/hour
