Description The Environmental Test Engineer will coordinate\/perform unique engineering tasks while engaging in production, R&D and qualification testing. The Engineer will support the environmental laboratory with technical guidance, documentation of test results and track special programs and projects. Duties and Responsibilities: Ability to consult and perform test efforts including high level vibration (random\/sinusoidal), fixture evaluations, pyrotechnic shock simulation, climatics (altitude, humidity, temperature, temperature shock) and environmental analysis. Coordinate test efforts through all phases of the development, qualification and startup of the manufacturing process. Review\/develop and approve test procedures (plans), test reports, Critical Item Development Specifications, and laboratory software (Climatic and Dynamic). Develops test setups, use data collection equipment, and generate\/document test anomaly reports and data packages. Interfaces with Management, Program Managers, Project Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Test Technicians, as well as internal and external customers. Capable of debugging test setups and laboratory equipment (thermal chambers, vibration systems, and pyrotechnic shock). Identifies and pursues technology development, manufacturing improvements, innovative methods, and resource sharing to improve quality\/productivity, reduce flowtime, and enhance operational surety. Experience in the designing and analyses of mechanical fixtures, testing apparatuses (used for product testing), and the coordination of fabrication via internal and external suppliers. Occasionally performs routine product testing, to assist laboratory with throughput, and equipment management. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred), Aerospace Engineering, or Physics from ABET accredited university program. Minimum 3-5 years preferred of relevant experience in environmental testing, environments engineering, or comparable roles. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft applications and computer network environments is highly desired. Experience in mechanical CAD design (Solidworks preferred) including vibration and holding fixture designs. Focused education or training in environmental testing (sinusoidal\/random vibration, shock and climatic testing). Familiar with military and aerospace standards related to environmental testing: MIL-STD-810, DO-160. Demonstrated technical innovation\/guidance, project management, and problem solving. Ability to work without supervision and to provide technical consultation and guidance for the environmental laboratory. Experience in dynamic data acquisition, signal processing, and instrumentation for the measurement of shock and vibration. Knowledge of climatic\/dynamic testing as well as the operation of testing equipment (chambers, thermal shock, altitude ovens, vibration and pyrotechnic shock). Related experience working with reading of schematic diagrams\/drawings of test equipment. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to include execution of presentations and briefings. Existing DOD Secret clearance or ability to obtain a clearance. Good knowledge of various test equipment, measurement methods and environmental exposure techniques. Ability to lift 50 lbs. Travel
