Job Description:

What’s the role?

As Environment/Safety Advisor CBII (Changbei 2), you accountabilities:

Provide assurance of on-going compliance with national and local relevant environmental law, regulations and standards.

Provide assurance of ongoing compliance with the project environmental EIA & WSCP (EIA: Environment Impact Assessment, WSCP: Water and Soil Conservation Protection), SCEPCo (Shell China Exploration and Production Co. Limited) polices & procedures. Company Global Control Frameworks (Environmental Manual and Project Manual),

Coordinate and deliver the project Completion Environmental Acceptance and other environmental permits and licenses.

Plan and carry out regular Environment Programs including environmental monitoring and management of environmental initiatives.

Manage environmental data collection, analyses the results in accordance with agreed methodologies, and prepare the data for submission as required.

Keep up to date with sector specific regulations, standards and practices.

Provide technical support to business units in particular in the areas of waste management, emissions reduction, water management and GHG.

Provide specialist advice and analysis on matters related to international and local environmental regulations, compliance and best practice.

Providing environment oversight: Contribute to the delivery of the project’s environmental assurance programs including 3rd party audits, internal assurance, and incident management.

Monitor, review, analyze, report and audit environmental performance and provide guidance and steer on opportunities to improve.

Develop and deploy required standards & procedures for environmental management (e.g. waste management practices, chemical handling & selection, emissions & effluent monitoring)

Maintain awareness and knowledge of environmental legislation, policies, standards and developments and provide support and guidance to the line on implementation and compliance.

Promote/deliver company awareness training of environmental matters.

Contribute to NTR (Non-technical risk) and risk management in projects.

Early engage, communicate and coordinate with Partner on plans, standards and commitments.

Provide steering and guidance to CB NOV (Changbei Non-operated venture) environment management from governance perspective.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current business processes and ensure own work to be complied with it such as CP process, payment process.

Work as Contract Holder to manage strategic or tactical contracts such as environmental Completion Inspection Acceptance, environment monitoring etc. This includes Contract Holder accountabilities for the contract tendering phase, contract implementation and cost management.

What we need from you

We are keen to speak to individuals with the following:

8 years professional/project experience in related area, preferably within oil & gas or a petrochemical/mining related industry.

Bachelor degree in environmental science, or equivalent.

Good communication (at all levels) and influencing skills with others who may be less familiar with environmental priorities/concerns/issues

Experience in engagement of external stakeholders (authorities, NGOs) is an advantage

Fluent in both Chinese and English

Self-managing, highly organised and excellent planning and planning discipline

Take the lead proactively on managing environmental opportunities & risks.

Consistently display a real passion, energy and urgency for environmental improvement that promotes others to act.
