Job Description
Dewberry is currently seeking a motivated Staff Environmental Scientist to join our Danville, VA office. This full-time opening will provide the applicant with the opportunity to work as part of a team throughout the Southeast region in all facets of environmental services including wetland science, regulatory permitting, and groundwater compliance. The Scientist must be flexible, client focused and capable of working independently under the supervision of project managers. The work required of the Scientist is diverse and ranges from general field support to technical work that requires strong communication skills. Typical projects involve assisting private, local, state, and federal agency clients with environmental permitting and/or regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities
Bachelor\u2019s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Environmental Studies, Forestry, Wildlife Biology, Geology, or a related field with 0-3 years of experience
Responsible for field sampling and contractor oversight at locations in VA and NC
Conduct permit compliance monitoring
Prepare Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESA)
Analyze laboratory results
Composes technical reports, memorandums and other written communication
Meets project, client, and regulatory deadlines
Assist field delineations of Waters of the U.S., including wetlands, and conduct stream assessments
Coordinate with state, federal, and local regulatory agencies
Works in a timely fashion to meet project budgets
Handles multiple concurrent projects
Other duties as required
Required Skills & Required Experience
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency in MS Office software
Proficiency with ArcMap/GIS, AutoCAD and MicroStation is preferred
Desire to work in a team environment
Jobs and locations may require overnight travel and ability to walk over uneven terrain while carrying heavy equipment
