Salary: $40,948.00 Environmental Specialist III - 37001087 $40,948.00 The position provides daily administrative, operational, and supervisory tasks required to accomplish resource protection within the Tomoka Mash Aquatic Preserve. This includes but is not limited to the following expectations: Implement the site management plans for the Tomoka Marsh according to priorities set by the Department, FCO, and the Regional Administrator.\u00a0 Work cooperatively with local, county, regional and state level decision makers, both private and public, to provide science-based information relevant to land use decisions affecting the Aquatic Preserve natural resources; propose and promote land acquisition, restoration, and mitigation projects affecting the Aquatic Preserves to benefit overall conservation of ecosystem services. Develop and maintain an inventory of the natural resources and their condition through field collection of samples, monitoring, sharing data with other researchers and managers, and review of technical literature and databases.\u00a0 Review permits affecting the Tomoka Marsh Aquatic Preserve and provide pertinent natural resource information. Attend the monthly DEP Northeast district regulatory meetings and pre-application meetings as necessary. Attend and represent the Florida Coastal office at various meetings, and make presentations as needed to ensure that the public and other agencies are aware of the site-specific issues and management objectives. This position also provides for support for other Aquatic Preserves within the Florida Coastal Office East Region as determined by the East Region AP Manager.
