General Responsibilities:Conduct environmental site investigations, assessments and surveys to sample, measure and analyze air, water, material, and soil.\u00a0 Identify, evaluate and recommend risk and remediation strategies\/designs to ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations.\u00a0 Prepare applicable permit applications, risk assessments and technical documents including proposals, reports and regulatory agency correspondence.\u00a0 Design systems and environmental protection plans.\u00a0 Projects may include Phase I\/II environmental site assessments, ecological and natural resource field surveys, tank closure assessments, asbestos abatement, storm water management, and site planning and permitting.\u00a0Essential Role and Responsibilities:\u00a0Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects.\u00a0 Participate in pre-task planning.\u00a0 Report any safety issues or concerns to management.Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.Mid-level, experienced scientific professional responsible for conducting site testing and making recommendations for systems design on medium sized projects with a variety of complexity.\u00a0 Participates with more senior scientists\/engineers on large, more complex projects. Performs site visits, field observations and field data collection or assignments.Implements technical requirements to complete client projects by directing and supervising field staff to sample, test and collect data and\/or document site activities.Responsible for developing written proposals to clients for both small and large projects including quality control review of proposals written by others.Evaluates complex laboratory and field data and assembles in written reports.May serve as team member or lead in meetings and communications with client pertaining to specific projects\/tasks.May oversee work performed by lower level scientists\/engineers and Technicians.Developing level scientific professional responsible for conducting analyses of component portions of projects (e.g.\u00a0 collection of field data using GPS, preparation of exhibits in ArcGIS, soil sampling, vegetation sampling, etc.). Assignments are designed to develop knowledge and abilitiesAssist in the collection and analysis of data from sampling, reports, maps, drawings, tests and aerial photographs to evaluate, plan and permit projects. Typical projects may include permitting or agency coordination under Section 404 of the Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, National Historic Preservation Act, Rivers and Harbors Act, National Environmental Policy Act, Migratory Bird Treaty Act, or Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act, and data collection\/analyses will be centered around resources related to these Acts (i.e. wetlands and streams, wildlife, cultural resources, socio-economic environment, etc.).Outlines required investigative program(s) by selecting the proper alternative techniques to conduct site studies in field of expertise\u00a0Requirements:\u00a0Bachelor\u2019s degree in Environmental Science, Wildlife & Fisheries Science, Natural Resource Management,\u00a0Biology, Range Management, Geology, Geography, or related science field and a minimum of 5 years\u2019 related experience.\u00a0 Or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 9 years\u2019 related experience.Master\u2019s degree preferred.Certification in field of expertise required.Valid driver\u2019s license with acceptable violation history.Minimum one-year experience in the following:Wetland & stream delineation\/preliminary jurisdictional determinationsGPS MappingGIS MappingPreparation of NEPA documentationWildlife surveys and habitat assessmentsVegetation identification,employmentType:FULL_TIME,title:Senior Staff Scientist,url:https:\/\/hireveterans.com\/job\/4097710\/senior-staff-scientist\/,jobLocation:{@type:Place,address:{addressLocality:Dallas,addressRegion:Texas,addressCountry:United States,postalCode:}},hiringOrganization:{@type:Organization,name:Construction Jobs Inc,logo:https:\/\/hireveterans.com\/files\/pictures\/Construction-Jobs-lg.png,sameAs:http:\/\/www.constructionjobs.com},occupationalCategory:[],industry:} {@context:http:\/\/schema.org,@type:BreadcrumbList,itemListElement:[{@type:ListItem,position:1,item:{@id:https:\/\/hireveterans.com\/jobs\/,name:Jobs}},{@type:ListItem,position:2,item:{@id:https:\/\/hireveterans.com\/job\/4097710\/senior-staff-scientist\/#,name:Senior Staff Scientist}}]}
