Specific Job Responsibilities

Perform duties in support of the Pantex’s Environmental Compliance Program in areas including Geographic Information Systems, Environmental Air Quality, Petroleum Storage Tank, Drinking Water, Wastewater and Storm Water. Utilizes available resources effectively and efficiently to support operations in maintaining compliance with federal and state environmental regulations. Reviews NEPA related documents, Plant Project proposals, and prepares documents and reports, from basic to complex, which identify applicable environmental requirements that will impact the project, and identify Plant mechanisms to assure compliance. Performs and documents assessments, both in-house and field, of operations and activities and make determinations regarding their conformance to requirements and standards. Provides support to operation managers with line ownership of processes, services or facilities having environmental record-keeping, and reporting responsibilities. Generates and maintains scheduled compliance reports, evaluating activities for potential issues and providing notification to management. Develops written procedures, as needed, to assure continuity of operations for any of the above activities. Develops, tracks, and reports metrics for environmental programs. Performs scientific duties requiring technical skills and application of knowledge to make final recommendations of a highly technical nature within a specific field of expertise with opportunity for exercise of initiative, independent judgement and discretion under limited supervision. Performs other duties as assigned.

Primary duty includes the exercise of discretion and independent judgement denoted as follows: having the authority to formulate, affect, interpret, or implement management policies or operating practices; carrying out major assignments related to the operation of the Company’s business; developing formal and informal opinions and recommendations to management on matters related to existing, developing and projected situations related to environmental management, sustainability, and compliance.

Specific Job Knowledge & Training Required

Knowledge of environmental management policies, issues, and initiatives related to environmental compliance required. Knowledge of both state of Texas and federal environmental statutes, rules, and regulations required. Experience and proficiency with Geographic Information System applications, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required. Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks, to work with shifting priorities and schedules, is required. Responsible for maintaining a thorough knowledge of applicable Federal, state of Texas and DOE orders, rules, and regulations relating to environmental management and compliance and Plant-wide operating policies and procedures through company-supported or funded training. Required to attend and successfully complete training classes as determined by the CNS Training and Development organization. Demonstrated analytical, problem solving, organizational, and management skills with attention to detail and accuracy is required. Ability to work independently, or as part of a team, including as a team leader, is required.

Education & Relevant Experience

A Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering programs with at least 4 years of relevant experience with typical Engineering or Science experience ranging from 6 to 10 years or a Master’s degree in Engineering or Science with at least 2 years of relevant experience. However, a combination of education and relevant experience wherein the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the position’s duties and accountabilities have been adequately demonstrated is acceptable. The applicant must be licensed as a Professional Geoscientist in the State of Texas or licensed as a Professional Engineer in the State of Texas.

Note 1:

This position requires a Q clearance; however, all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status.

Note 2:

This position requires Human Reliability Program (HRP) certification. If the successful candidate is not currently certified in the HRP, the certification process will be initiated upon assumption of the position. If the successful candidate is currently certified in the HRP, a review for HRP certification in the appropriate category will be performed by the hiring manager and the HRP Management Official, and the certification process in the appropriate category will be initiated upon assumption of the position.
