Environmental Health & Safety Compliance Specialist

The Environmental Health and Safety Compliance Specialist will provide professional environmental health & safety (EH&S) consulting services to MMA Environmental (MMA-E) clients.

Responsibilities

Respond to customer questions and concerns on EH&S and loss control issues. Review existing policies to determine compliance with various agencies such OSHA & EPA. Be able to professionally suggest alternative approaches to clients’ EH&S management systems. Conduct onsite employee safety training presentations on a variety of EH&S topics on a regular basis. Prepare professional looking follow-up reports and Executive Summaries for clients. Facilitate effective client safety committee meetings onsite. Perform compliance audits in the form of facility walkthrough inspections and make corrective action recommendations accordingly. Develop, implement and maintain client specific written programs/manuals/protocols adhering to local, state & federal environmental, health & safety regulations (e.g. Lockout & Tagout, Contingency Plan, Emergency Action Plan, Hazard Communication, Storm Water Pollution Prevention, etc.) Regulations review and research – keep clients abreast of any changes to laws/regulations that impact their organizations Conduct technical research and develop technical written reports (e.g. industrial hygiene testing). Assist with data gathering for environmental permitting and reporting (e.g. hazardous waste, air permits, wastewater, storm water, etc.) Local travel required on a daily basis. Must have own transportation. Some overnight travel may be required.

Qualifications Detail oriented Excellent soft (people) skills; ability to work well with clients and co-workers Ability to develop/maintain positive relationships with inspector & regulatory agencies Self-starter, motivated individual with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision Computer skills: MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Qualifications

2-3 years minimum environmental health & safety experience in general industry or construction preferred

Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health Sciences or similar field of study required or equivalent industry experience.

Working knowledge of state and federal environmental regulations including: Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, Resource Conservation & Recovery Act

Working knowledge of state and federal hazardous material transportation regulations

Bi-lingual (Spanish) skills are a plus
