We are seeking an Environmental Scientist to provide full time on-site support at Joint Base Lewis-McChord North, Tacoma, WA. This effort will include providing assistance in normal day-to-day management functions and operations of the installationâ€™s Environmental Management System (EMS) and Environmental Operating Permit (EOP). RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead the effort to develop, manage, and perform the installationâ€™s EOP, which links the units with the installationâ€™s EMS. Review and update of EMS policies and procedures, monitor and coordinate the update of documents on the EMS web page, and process Preventative Correction Action Requests (PCAR). Support the P2/ EOP Program to assist units with practicing responsible environmental practices. Support the Installation Sustainability Program and Board, integrating EMS with sustainability. Promote cooperative interaction between units and PW-ED to lessen the chance of environmental mishaps and increase environmental stewardship. Establish and maintain communication with soldiers, civilians, and contractors for the purpose of assisting them with their EOPs. Distill the requirements of the EOP for use by installation units. Track document reviews, document quality, schedule reviews, meeting attendance, office logistics, and workflow projects to include generating and tracking deliverables. Provide training and guidance to users of the EOP Program. JOB REQUIREMENTS: Bachelorâ€™s Degree in environmental science or related field and three years of related environmental experience. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of people. Dependable, fast, accurate, and extremely detail oriented. Knowledgeable of the EMS process and ability to read and interpret environmental regulations. Working knowledge and understanding of DoD policies and procedures required. Motivated, outgoing self-starters requested. Must be able to successfully pass a federal agency background investigation.
