Job Summary

AECOM is seeking an experienced Senior Environmental Scientist in our Franklin, TN operation.

Responsibilities will include but may not be limited to the following:

Generally, requires multi-disciplinary knowledge.

Makes recommendations on work methods and procedures and technical innovations by devising practical and economical solutions to problems in own discipline.

Makes recommendations on research requests, objectives, priorities, and timing.

Assess need for change and recommends development of standards.

Assess work against standards, objectives and specifications.

Utilizes advanced scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies when working on unusually complex technical problems.

Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance.

Develops solutions which are highly innovative. Assignments are often self-initiated.

Acts as advisor to management and clients.

Oversees the work of less experienced scientists.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree 8 years of experience OR demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Qualifications

8 years or more of Environmental Scientist experience

Knowledge and experience working within TDEC (Tennessee Department of Environment & Conservation) guidelines

40 Hour HAZWOPER certification

Ability to communicate, mentor and lead junior staff on field investigation techniques, health and safety, and client communication.

Assess need for change and recommends operational guidance to facilitate accurate and timely field data collection.

Ability to communicate with clients and regulatory agencies to makes recommendations on project objectives, priorities, solutions and timing.

Ability to prepare technical reports and to supervise staff to produce work products that are quality controlled and meet work standards, objectives and specifications within time constraints.
