As an Environmental Technician at Micron Technology, you will perform quantitative and qualitative analyses, such as field sampling, testing and measuring, to determine air, ground or water pollution levels. Assist in installation and set-up of instruments and equipment. Operate basic electronic equipment and assists in conducting sampling procedures with the current line of instrumentation. Assist others in conducting periodic inspections of equipment and performs simple preventative maintenance work. Assist in assembling data and maintaining records pertinent to sampling projects performed in conjunction with government agencies and consulting firms. Work on special projects, as assigned. You must be generally made aware of changes in Federal, State and local regulations associated with the field of work.
Apply limited judgment in resolving routine problems. Independently performs technical tasks. Work on assignments that are semi-routine in nature. Follow general instructions on new assignments. Recognize the need for occasional deviation from accepted practice. Apply acquired job skills and company policies and procedures to complete assigned tasks. Troubleshoot problems where reference materials are available. May lead or train others on the team. Apply acquired job skills and company policies and procedures to complete semi-routine tasks. Apply basic knowledge of processes and its integration with device performance.
Job Role Skills/Responsibilities
Responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to, the following:
*Prioritizes effectively and responds quickly to situations as needed. *Assists inexperienced team members in learning and performing job tasks. *Provides guidance to others in regards to safety policies and procedures. *Provides quality control for workmanship of less experienced technicians. *Makes routine decisions independently. Uses sound judgment regarding the need for consultation and/or expert advice. *Makes routine operational recommendations.
*Communicates with a variety of individuals (e.g., contractors, managers, supervisors, engineers) to coordinate waste related activities (e.g., timely removal, quantities of waste, answers questions.
*Collects, manages, and interprets data using Microsoft Office Suite.
*Performs general maintenance of waste systems. *Performs daily and weekly inspections. *Monitors waste tank levels. *Oversees the cleaning of decontamination bins. *Labels and marks hazardous waste for identification. *Reviews and interprets lab results from waste samples (i.e., to ensure that waste fits the proper profile and fits the manifest when being removed) *Oversees the disposal of non-hazardous waste (i.e., to ensure that it is safe to put into dumpsters.) *Performs calculations to monitor volume of waste emanating from Fabs. *Oversees the loading of trucks removing hazardous waste. *Characterizes (classifies) waste.
Successful candidates for this position must be able to:
*Operate forklift and other industrial vehicles. *Be able to lift 50 pounds. *Push and maneuver up to 700 pound drums. *Walk for long distances.
AAS Degree in Environmental Studies or Related Field
