Energize your career at Exelon!PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITIONThe Environmental Coordinator is the 24/7/365 technical POC and expert for management of local energy delivery environmental issues, with primary responsibility for environmental compliance, environmental emergency response, procedure development, local environmental awareness and information sharing. The EC is the environmental face of the company to regulators and local energy delivery customers. The EC also provides guidance and direction for management of local industrial hygiene issues, including coordination of exposure monitoring, sharing of monitoring results and development and implementation of required written compliance programs. The EC achieves results through communication and strong relationships with energy delivery Operations regions/divisions. #CD# Key activities required of the position include maintenance of established environmental programs, implementation of the utility environmental operating plan and direction of contractor activities for spill cleanups, site remediation projects, Hazwoper sites and special projects. Position may be required to work extended hours, including 24 x 7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies. PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES- Accountability- Provide regulatory support / guidance, coordination and direction for local operating company and applicable local regions/divisions including (but limited to): waste management, PCB, solid waste recycling , regulatory compliance and field services. 24/7 environmental field emergency response. Initial point of contact (POC) for Federal, State and Local environmental agency inspectors. #CD# 35- Support development of first-level waste management and PCB policy and procedure guidance for EED businesses. Commitment tracking, and execution of commitments. Local trending and tracking for Key Environmental Performance Indicators. Support implementation of environmental initiatives. #CD# 15- Oversight of general environmental services contractors (GESC) in field, including remediation work associated with releases of hazardous materials. #CD# Review and processing of invoices for environmental services work. #CD# 20- Responsibility for local compliance with EED MSDS management, #CD# chemical control, and industrial hygiene programs. Initial point of contact for industrial hygiene issues in region/division. #CD# 10- Responsibilities for SPCC plan maintenance and implementation. #CD# 10- Liaison with regional technical and operating personnel to craft and facilitate delivery of awareness communications. #CD# 5- Interface with regulators and external customers as needed. #CD# 5POSITION SPECIFICATIONSMinimum: - B. S. in environmental science, or technical field and 5-8 years experience in utility environment or in EH CD# S field or minimum 10 years field experience in utility environment. - Attention to detail, sense of urgency. - Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated and self-initiating. - Demonstrated ability to trigger action and achieve results through personal influence. - Demonstrated ability to analyze data, interpret information, and formulate recommendations. - Demonstrated ability to work effectively in both individual and team-based environments. - Demonstrated ability to build consensus, establish trust. - Demonstrated knowledge of the fundamental principles of leadership. - Demonstrated ability to negotiate effectively and facilitate conflict resolution. - Demonstrated business acumen, employee awareness and ability to create value. - Working knowledge of PC, and Microsoft Office Programs. - Excellent oral and written communication skills. #CD# Valid drivers license. Preferred: - Broad knowledge of applicable RCRA, TSCA, Clean Water Act, spill response, and other applicable environmental laws and regulations. - Broad knowledge of industrial hygiene principles. - Broad knowledge of electric and gas distribution field operations. - Broad knowledge of EH CD# S regulations and scientific principles. - Demonstrated ability to support cross-functional teams. - Demonstrated ability to implement process enhancements and efficiencies including technology and performance. - Certified Hazardous Materials Manager or other comparable environmental certification(s)Qualifications - This position serves as the internal expert for utility environmental compliance. ; The incumbent provides technical guidance, support and direction for clients and key stakeholders with a goal of maintaining or improving the level of compliance in client operations. ; The position provides direction for the implementation of activities required to meet corporate strategic initiatives. ; For clients with fewer potential environmental risks, the incumbent will be expected to assume H & S duties in addition to the environmental responsibilities. - This position is direct report to the Environmental Lead for the applicable operating company and is a dotted line to Operations and Regional Management and a dotted line report to regional/division management. - This position includes response to environmental emergencies outside of normal working hours, including an on-call duty schedule assignment. ; The incumbent is expected to complete the training for an on-site Hazwoper supervisor, including the ability to wear protective equipment, specifically respiratory protectionExelon is proud to be an equal opportunity employer and employees or applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to: age, color, disability, gender, national origin, race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, protected veteran status, or any other classification protected by federal, state, or local law.
