This professional will support the OSD Sustainability Program, which advances the Department of Defense\u2019s (DoD) sustainability vision which is for our Military Departments to have the energy, land, air, and water resources necessary to train and operate, today and in the future. This includes development of policies, planning, tools, and guidance for integrating life cycle environment and health considerations across the enterprise. The Sustainability Program promotes sustainability practices across DoD and seeks ways to fully incorporate the value of key attributes such as resilience, greenhouse gas reductions, and environmental preservation. Noblis provides DoD with exceptionally qualified teams of smart, collaborative, proactive experts and professionals. We are currently actively seeking to identify personnel to join our team of talented professionals who possess the experience, vision, commitment, and integrity to successfully support the strategic goals of our DoD customers.

Assess potential life cycle environmental impacts of defense technologies and products by applying a range of life cycle assessment (LCA) and other related methodologies (e.g., attributional, consequential, benchmarking, and input/output techniques).
Develop guidance and tools for application of sustainability, LCA, and life cycle costing techniques.
Perform assessments of individual R&D projects, including environmental impacts and economic benefits.
Prepare technical reports, white papers, briefings, and other materials on all aspects of sustainability for various civilian and defense clients.
Advise on green chemistry, responsible minerals management, and supply chain social responsibility initiatives.
Support corporate ESG initiatives, such as development greenhouse gas inventories.
Participate and/or lead client meetings to clearly describe results of research and data analysis. Ensure performance of tasks within scope and direction of the project manager.
Perform data analysis and data visualizations using Excel or other tools (e.g., Tableau, R).


Minimum 8 years of professional experience
Masters or Doctoral Degree in engineering, environmental science, sustainability, industrial ecology, economics, or a related field with specific LCA coursework or equivalent experience required.
Expert-level knowledge of LCA, techno-economic assessment, and/or GHG accounting methods and a familiarity with LCA software (e.g., openLCA, GaBi, SimaPro)
Familiarity with leading LCA standards including ISO 14040 and ISO 14044
Presentation skills and experience presenting to technical and nontechnical audiences
Works well in a geographically diverse team environment
U.S. Citizen

Desired Qualifications

Doctoral Degree in engineering, environmental science, sustainability, industrial ecology, economics, or a related field with specific LCA coursework or equivalent experience
15 years of professional experience
Technical publications in the field of environmental LCA, techno-economic analysis, GHG accounting, and/or analysis of emerging technologies.
Relevant experience with Federal Government (e.g., DoD, DOE, DHS, EPA)
Strong data analysis skills in Excel, Tableau and/or R
Top secret clearance or the ability to gain clearance
