Overall Responsibility

The HSE Advisor – Environmental Specialist will be a member of the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Department responsible for providing service and support to the company's HSE Management team at the Corporate and District level. Reporting to the Director of HSE, the Advisor will be accountable for development, implementation, and administration of environmental and safety practices, policies and training.

Key areas of responsibility

Lead all environmental compliance (hazardous waste, air emissions, water) at multiple locations

Identify and implement applicable OSHA, SARA, Title III, RCRA, CAA, CWA and other regulatory requirements

Ensure accurate and timely reporting to management and Regulatory Agencies in the event an incident occurs

Manage all industrial hygiene programs in the Tulsa laboratory and manufacturing facility

Responsible for reporting, investigating, and assisting when incidents occur

Work on a continual basis with the Location and Department Managers to develop corrective action plans for incidents and near misses

Ensure environmental spill response and reporting, including remediation supervision and waste management, is dealt with in a respectful and timely manner

Conduct and document regular HSE inspections of facilities and work sites

Support HSE risk assessment initiatives at district and field locations with respect to Job Safety Analysis (JSA) process

Lead and actively participate in location safety meetings, including preparation of videos, slides, and any supporting documentation related to HSE topics

Act as customer and contractor liaison regarding all location HSE matters

Actively participate and seek out Industry Committees, such as Occupational Health and Safety (OHS)

Responsible for compiling and preparing reports of performance data, HSE system requirements, and other requested reports from Head Office

Travel is required to ensure all HSE obligations for this position are met

Qualifications

Post-secondary education in a related discipline

5 years progressive work experience in the Oil and Gas Industry including HSE experience

HSE Certification or equivalent highly preferable - US Certified Safety Professional (CSP)

Experience with TSCA Regulations and procedures, including preparation of new LVE/PMN submissions and chemical reporting via CDX, Substance Registry Services and compliance with consent orders and/or SNURs.

Experience with (familiarity with) HMIRA registration and NDSL/DSL reporting in Canada

Current 40 hour HAZWOPER and/or refresher

Have technical knowledge of RCRA, DOT, CWA, CAA, TSCA regulations

Strong understating of JSA, Hazard and Risk analysis

Incident investigation knowledge and experience

Knowledge of United States HSE regulations and standards

Familiar with audit practices and procedures, preferably Auditor certification

Strong understanding of HSE laws and regulations relative to Oil and Gas Service Industry

An energetic, self-starter comfortable working in a fast paced environment that is deadline driven; more importantly is centered on providing quality information

Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building, and verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to interact effectively and work confidently with both field and management staff on a regular basis

Strong leadership, mentoring, and advising skills pertaining to all HSE matters

Extremely high standards of customer service and professionalism

A person of high character; is consistent and acts in line with a clear and visible set of values and beliefs

Comfortable in a dynamic, project driven, team based environment

Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously with a high attention to detail

Strong working knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook is essential
