ASO

provides logistics, facilities maintenance and operations, transportation and support services for mission-critical military installations and civilian agencies around the country. From the homes of U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command to the highways of suburban Virginia, ASO experts and professionals work behind the scenes to ensure smooth and continuous operations.

Assist the EH&S Manager with the Development, Implementation and maintains company policies adhering to local, state and Federal environmental, health and safety regulations.  Involved in the design and development of facilities, work areas and work procedures and makes environmental, health and safety recommendations accordingly.  Responsible for assisting in the preparation, maintaining, and updating environmental policy and procedure manuals.  Assist with ensuring compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations, and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization.  Serves as an alternate contact with all federal, state, and local regulatory bodies.

MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES:

Assist in ensuring ionizing and non-ionizing Radiological Safety Programs meet Federal and DA regulatory requirements; advises project management and staff of radiological safety and health physics matters and maintains program documentation. 

Ensures that workers are provided with radiological safety training pursuant to Federal and DA regulatory guidelines, performs and maintains files of radiological surveys. 

Supports and attends Ionizing Radiation Control Committee (IRCC) meetings when determined, to discuss radiological safety issues and oversees project radiological policy decisions. 

Conducts inspections of departments to ensure compliance with HM/HW procedures. Conducts Hazardous Material Training for personnel employed on the Fort Carson DOL contract. Assist in maintaining liaison with the Fort Carson safety and environmental agencies and coordinates corrective actions as required. 

Complies with the Fort Carson Installation Spill Contingency Plan by assisting in ensuring the Directorate of Environmental Compliance and Management Office are notified of reportable hazardous material spills within 30 minutes of occurrence. 

Responsible for assisting with the organizations environmental, health and safety programs for assuring compliance with Company policies, and OSHA, EPA, NRC and DA regulations. 

Assist with Investigating accidents and reports to provide program management causes and actions to take to prevent reoccurrences.

Interfaces as directed with subcontractors on matters of Environmental, Health and Safety.

Assist with conducting monthly Safety Committee meetings and helps maintain an active safety awareness program.  Submits monthly reports in accordance with contractual requirements as required.

Other duties as assigned.

MATERIAL & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED:

Operates a computer and utilizes software programs, spreadsheets and databases. Operates a beta gamma radiation detector and sound level meter.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:

Work is generally conducted in a shop environment. However, duties may involve the conduct of work in the out-of-doors area with a potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions. Work will require lifting up to 50 lbs; stooping; climbing; prolonged standing; prolonged sitting. Employee use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required is certain areas. Such PPE includes but is not limited to head, foot, hand, torso, respiratory, vision and hearing protective devices. Must comply with OSHA, EPA, Fire Regulations and published Company work rules.

Steel toes are required.

FREEDOM TO ACT:

Reports to the EH&S Safety Manager, functions independently with management direction and review.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

A minimum of 8 hours Army-specific Radiological Safety Training or ability to obtain upon hiring.  Prefer a graduate of the 6-week Radiological Safety Course in Maryland or completion Post RSO training course. OSHA training and experience is desirable .

Experience:

Preferred experience in radiological protection and handling hazardous materials/hazardous waste.  An understanding of U.S. Army logistics policies, practices, and procedures.

Must possess and continuously maintain a current State of Colorado Driver's License, prior to hire or 30 days after being hired on contract.

SECURITY CLEARANCE:

   Must be US Citizen and receive a favorable

                  background check 

and drug testing results. Must be able to obtain and

                  maintain a 

SECRET Clearance.
