Responsibilities

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission is seeking a highly motivated and qualified candidate for an exciting full-time permanent position within Office of Energy Projects. The position is located in the Washington Office, and the incumbent will serve as a Wildlife Biologist. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission assists consumers in obtaining reliable, efficient and sustainable energy services at a reasonable cost through appropriate regulatory and market means.

Duties of the position:

- Analyze moderately complex data on wildlife, terrestrial biology, federally-listed threatened and endangered species and habitat, and related biology matters as they relate to the construction, modification, operation, and maintenance of hydropower projects.

- Serve on multidisciplinary teams assigned to prepare staff environmental documents.

- Participate in meetings on complex wildlife, terrestrial biology, federally-listed threatened and endangered species and habitat, and related biology matters with attorneys, engineers, and biologists from licensees, applicants for license, and local, state, and federal agencies.

Qualifications

Additionally, candidates must have one full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-9 level or have completed requirements for a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree. Specialized experience is defined as: Experience in addressing moderately complex wildlife issues.
