Job Description
DLZ Corporation has a rewarding opportunity for an Environmental Department Manager in Lansing, Michigan.
 
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES:

Organize the efforts of the Environmental staff and workload.
Review all functions and activities of the Environmental Department and recommends such actions that are necessary to achieve improvement in field work, reporting, production and/or cost reduction.
Work with the President in developing long and short-range plans for the advancement and growth of the department.
Maintain continuous communications with Project Managers, Business Development staff, and all DLZ\u2019s offices to ensure company capabilities are fully utilized.
Oversees environmental efforts and provides guidance as necessary to ensure quality, safety, schedule, and budget of all projects.
Review quality, accuracy, and completeness of projects in accordance with applicable governmental and industry standards.
Work with Department Managers and Project Managers to prepare quarterly projections, invoicing and closeout for the department.
Monitor contractual commitments and confirm work is being performed according to the client's instructions.
Prepare and monitor Department\u2019s operating budget.
Direct the activities of all personnel reporting to him/her or assigned on specific projects.
Provide guidance, mentor-ship and leadership at all stages of projects and maintain Environmental design, reporting, and production standards and procedures.
Review staff and is responsible for morale of the department.
Coordinate established performance standards and evaluate work against these standards.
Plan, manage, coordinate and administer all work assigned to the department.
Advise staff on professional development, and recommend ways for them to advance.
Recommend personnel and funds required to carry out the programs that are directly related with and directed toward fulfillment of overall department objectives.
Performs Business Development within the firm's business development program specifically related to environmental projects.
Works with Business Development staff and prepares responses for Request for Qualifications and Request for Proposals with the environmental staff.
Initiate and maintain contacts with key professionals and officials of other organizations and companies.
Make client contact and maintain working relationships at all levels.
Becomes a member of and work to be actively involved in civic and professional activities, societies and organizations.
Verify that all health & safety concerns are addressed.
Ensure Quality Management procedures are executed on all projects.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor or Masters of Geology or relevant Engineering Degree.
Registered Professional Engineer, if applicable.
10 plus years relevant field and project management experience, and staff management experience.
Strong technical writing and oral presentation skills
Experience working on concurrent projects, collaborating with multiple disciplines, and technical production project experience.
Experience in a variety of project types, scale and complexity; following project from conception through completion.
Proficient with software programs inherent to successful completion of the work.
Ability to visit and safely traverse construction and project sites, complying with all applicable safety codes and requirements.
OSHA 40-Hour Hazwopper training.
Experience conducting soil vapor, soil, surface water and groundwater investigations.
Experience developing Conceptual Site Models, Feasibility Studies, and Pilot Studies.
Experience with remedial design, design documents, system construction and oversight and operations and maintenance.
Experience with Real Estate Due Diligence and Michigan Baseline Environmental Site Assessments.
Experience with Michigan Public Act 451, Part 201 and Part 213 sites.
Experience with Brownfield Redevelopment grants, building demolitions, site due care, and Michigan Public Act 381 workplans.
Experience with soil vapor investigations and mitigation.
Experience with Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS).

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

OSHA Site Supervisor training.
OSHA Construction Safety Site Supervisor training.
OSHA Construction Safety training.
Experience with State of Michigan environmental regulations.
Experience working in the Midwest and the State of Michigan.
Experience working with local governmental agencies.
