Serve as an individual contributor for environmental issues, supporting both Corporate HSE and offshore operations (and other departments as needed).
Duties & Responsibilities
Manage and provide support for various environmental permits (NPDES, VGP, SWPPP, SPCC) including permit applications, reporting and recordkeeping, and renewals.
Submit required annual and periodic environmental reports to the appropriate regulatory agency.
Verify required internal environmental reporting and quality check the information reported in areas such as diesel usage, waste generation and discharges.
Develop training materials for environmental programs, procedures and systems; periodically conduct training for specific issues on an as-needed basis.
Research environmental regulations as required for entering a country and/or ensuring compliance.
Serve as a point of contact with customers to provide assistance with requests and/or issues.
Review environmental sections of proposed contracts and provide requested environmental information and documents in response to marketing requests.
Travel to offshore rigs upon request or as needed to conduct inspections, audits, training, etc.
Collaborate with other departments on projects that may arise from time to time.
Participate in industry trade groups (such as IADC) on environmental issues to stay abreast of current matters as well as upcoming changes to regulations.
Review, update and implement environmental policies and procedures, benchmarking with other systems and ensuring dissemination of changes as needed.
College degree or relevant certification. Environmental, regulatory or marine experience may substitute for a college degree or relevant certification.
Experience in analyzing and identifying practical solutions to comply with federal, state, and international environmental and marine laws and regulations.
Skills & Experience:
Required: Candidate will have 1-3 years of relevant experience in Environmental Management Systems, specifically in developing, implementing and maintaining a comprehensive compliance program, including environmental management systems, document control, updating and tracking training programs, review of regulatory initiatives, etc.
Desirable/Preferred: Oil & gas industry experience. Knowledge of offshore Gulf of Mexico environmental requirements. International offshore regulatory experience.
