Beveridge & Diamond seeks an associate with two to four years of experience to join our firm at one of our seven offices. We are looking for an attorney who is a member of the California bar with substantial practice experience in California; residence in our SF office is preferred, but not a requirement.
The position will focus on environmental regulatory and compliance matters, with a focus on the United States and California, and with a primary focus on the firm’s product regulatory practice
. Our products regulatory practice is global in its scope, and involves multidisciplinary work on products of all types, including electronics, batteries, chemicals, pesticides, plastics, and biotechnology. This is a highly dynamic field in one of the fastest-growing areas of environmental law (and beyond environmental law), and B&D is fortunate to advise a client base of some of the largest and most sophisticated companies and trade associations in the country on these issues.
The work involves support for our clients in topics like: market access; product development and premarket approval; responsible sourcing, supply chain, and transactional support; other ESG advice; chemical and materials restrictions; labeling, marketing and advertising; product safety; hazmat transport; reverse distribution and waste; and product stewardship and recycling.
Experience in any of these California or federal product regulatory areas is strongly preferred, but candidates with familiarity with state and federal environmental regulatory programs or environmental litigation experience will also be considered.
Candidates must have the following qualifications:
J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school with excellent academic credentials;
Status as an active member in good standing of the bar in at least one state jurisdiction (admission to practice in California is a plus);
Strong analytical, research, writing and oral communication skills;
Attention to detail, strong organization skills, ability to work well under deadlines, and ability to assume significant client responsibilities;
Creative thinking and problem solving skills.
B&D has more than 120 lawyers in seven U.S. offices. It is a top-ranked environmental law firm, and helps clients around the world resolve critical environmental, natural resource, project development, and sustainability issues relating to their facilities, products, and operations. The firm has been named to the
National Law Journal
’s “Midsize Hot List.”
U.S. News-Best Lawyers
rates the firm as a Tier 1 nationwide firm for Environmental Law and Environmental Litigation.
Chambers USA Guide to the Legal Profession
lists the firm among national leaders in Environmental practices. For the third consecutive year, the firm has achieved Mansfield Rule Plus Certification, indicating that the firm considers women, LGBTQ , minorities, and lawyers with disabilities for at least 30% of all significant leadership roles, lateral recruiting, and business development opportunities.
B&D has a creative, team-focused, and respectful culture that enables flexibility and encourages entrepreneurialism, and the products regulatory practice in particular requires team members that are adaptive to ever-evolving products and regulatory developments.
