Job Description Summary: The Environmental Service Specialist works within all areas of the Medical Center, both patient care and non-patient care areas. Primary focus on maintaining cleanliness standards for all public access areas, maintenance and re-finishing of floors, carpets, wall washing, refuse removal, recycling, and medical waste handling, along with general movement of furniture or function set ups within the Medical Center. Responsible for ensuring that patient care related areas and furnishings are cleaned and sanitized following established policies and procedures. These activities are to conform to all Federal, State, and local standards to ensure the Medical Center maintains its high standards of cleanliness and sanitation. Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, may be assigned a variety of duties designed to support the care team and facilitate improved patient satisfaction through the timely and efficient completion of these tasks. Responsibilities: All qualified personnel are competent to properly clean patient, public, ancillary and office areas according to the Housekeeping Department\u2019s standardized processes using standardized chemicals, which are defined in the policy and procedures manual. Maintains a clean environment for patient and ancillary rooms throughout the care center, demonstrates the ability to clean office and public areas, follows spill clean up procedures for general spills and blood and body fluids, upon patient discharge, and patient rooms are prepared for incoming new patients all through application of the 10-step cleaning process outlined in the Environmental Services Manual. Follow care and maintenance procedures for specified care center equipment. Universal\/Standard Safety Precautions are followed consistently. All equipment is used appropriately and efficiently according to the Housekeeping policy and procedure manual. Manage task assignments as EVS Specialist Lead. Provide leadership and direction to all Housekeeping employees. The above is intended to describe the general content of and requirements for the performance of this job.
