HERE’S THE JOB DESCRIPTION:Title: Safety & Environment Specialist 3 Pay: $42.39/hrLocation: Irwindale, CA 91702Length: 6  month contract possible extensionSchedule: M-F 8-5Job Description:tBroad knowledge of the Company’s accident prevention rules, CAL/OSHA and other governmental regulations relating to the electric utility industry.tTypically possesses five or more years of experience in construction-related methods and standards or performing relating investigatory and regulatory proceedings related to industrial safety, health, and claims litigation.tOversees the safety function for the assigned facility and partners with onsite management and other resources to ensure local program ownership and accountability. Support, implement and maintain the Environmental Management System (EMS) with formal corrective actions to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulationstImplementation of corporate safety and environmental, or equivalent site-specific programs and required written documentation to support these programtComplete environmental permits, reports, forms and surveys as required by regulation and Corporation policy and procedures, and submit them on a timely basis and in a professional mannertAssist in the development of various programs, policies, procedures and associated training materialstAssures the appropriate, effective, and timely distribution of all required safety and environmental training programs for the facility and may include performance of trainingtAssures compliance with various governmental record-keeping requirements, metrics, and effectively communicates results to corporate safety and environmental management in addition to Plant Management as neededtServe as the sites' primary interface with government agencies for the purpose of understanding the regulations and to ensure compliancetAssures coordinated case management for all work related injuries/illnesses through the implementation of Return-to-Work Program and communicate results to plant leadershiptServes as technical expert with oversight responsibility to ensure the implementation and documentation of sound principles of Industrial HygienetCoordinate the use of and manage the activities of various safety and environmental consultants and outside contractors as requisitioned by Facility ManagementtWorks closely in a team environment with the facility operations and leadership team to achieve overall environmental, safety operational and business objectivestConduct safety, health & environmental compliance self-audits, support external audits and hold an annual review of the safety, health & environmental management system with the management teamtAssist with the development, implementation and tracking of specified corrective actionstEnsure thorough familiarity with policies and procedures relating to standards of business conduct and understand the importance of full compliance with the letter and spirit of such policiestProvide leadership for the plant Safety Committee and various task teams. Assist in the development of various mission/goals and maintain all related documentation for the committeestDevelop, implement, follow-up and follow-through on various professional plans, programs, policies, SOPs, training materials and presentationstProvide community leadership in the fields of safety, health & environmental activitiestProvide leadership and direction to establish and sustain a positive company safety, health & environmental culture both on and off the jobtCoordinate and facilitate incident investigationstKnow and understand the impact of this position on the workplace environment and to take all necessary actions to reduce or eliminate negative impactsDay to Day Responsibilities:tThis position will provided safety support and expertise to SCE's Contractor Safety Management Team.tConducting field observation our SCE’s higher-risk contractors in conjunction with organization representatives, working with SCE organizations and providing subject matter expertise to support organization implementation of SCE’s contractor safety program, reviewing contractor safety improvement plans and other safety documentation and developing safety communications and materials.Required Skills/Attributes:tSafety Certification (e.g. CSP)tStrong safety knowledge, extensive experience conducting safety field observations, strong knowledge of Cal OSHA regulationstExcellent written and oral communications skills. Ability to work with minimal supervision and achieve goalstStrong, positive safety leadership.Desired Skills/Attributes:tMaster's DegreeEducation Requirement:tBachelor's Degree
