WSP is currently initiating a search for a

Fluvial Geomorphologist

for our

Seattle, WA


Federal Way, WA


Duties and Responsibilities:

Lead/support stream restoration and fish passage projects in Washington State, applying WSDOT design standards and WDFW guidelines

Lead/Support Preliminary Hydraulic Design (PHD) and Final Hydraulic Design (FHD) documentation for WSDOT fish passage projects

Ensure quality deliverables throughout the project lifecycle

Assist and mentor the professional development of future designers

Ensure consistency of the design of the various portions of the projects with respect to adherence to the design criteria, multiple interfaces, required standards and the approval process

Adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures

Abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies

Abide by WSP's diversity, equity, and inclusion policies

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

10 years of experience in stream restoration and fish passage design, preferably with at least 4 years of Washington State experience.

Bachelor Degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Engineering or other related field. Professional Geologist License preferred

Experience with stream and river hydraulics, channel stability analyses, sediment transport analyses, stream restoration, fish passage and culvert replacement projects and floodplain restoration.

Ability to demonstrate a strong track record of winning/delivering fish passage projects

Strong technically-based leadership skills with proficient understanding of multi-engineering disciplines and technical design standards

Strong project management skills

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with ability to form effective relationships

Proven track record of exercising responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct

Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced degree(s)

Experience with delivering WSDOT Fish Passage projects

Knowledge of the Washington fish passage work and related transportation market, design firms and contractors.
