Alaska Overview: ConocoPhillips Alaska and its heritage companies have more than 50 years of business history in Alaska. As Alaska's largest oil and gas producer, the company produced an average 182 thousand barrels of oil in 2017. ConocoPhillips, with about 1,100 Alaska employees, holds major ownership interests in the Prudhoe Bay Unit, the Kuparuk River Unit, and the Colville River Unit (Alpine). ConocoPhillips operates the Kuparuk and Alpine oil fields on the North Slope. The company has an ownership interest in the Trans Alaska Pipeline System (TAPS) and owns/operates the Polar Tankers fleet. Position Summary: Overall responsibility for leading and managing all water and waste issues associated with Drilling and Exploration activities for ConocoPhillips Alaska (COPA). This position will be North Slope based working 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off. Responsibilities may include: Serve as a role model for ConocoPhillips’ SPIRIT Values Lead by example in COPA’s drive to an Incident Free Culture Work closely with drilling, exploration, production and project personnel to anticipate needs as well as identify potential obstacles and opportunities Serve as primary contact with regulatory agencies regarding environmental reporting and inspection activities Function as a subject matter expert (SME) for COPA compliance with water and waste regulations; communicating guidance and strategy, as necessary Contribute to environmental permitting practices for upcoming development projects Engage contractors to assist with permitting and planning as needed, and manage the associated budgets Lead water and waste minimization efforts as part of COPA’s sustainable development initiative Manage water use database Monitor and manage field environmental requirements and compliance Perform regulatory required reporting, inspections and related duties Develop, review and maintain evaluations and other technical backup in support of permit/regulatory applicability determinations Establish and maintain interdependent working relationships with COPA projects groups, discipline engineers, field operations, regulatory permitting coordinators, and operations field environmental coordinators Lead training sessions and regulatory compliance roll outs related to COPA groups, contractors and individuals Assist with the coordination of helicopter needs and tracking of landings Educate new contractors in North Slope Redbook requirements and assist in development of thorough waste management plans Support COPA HSE objectives and programs, and actively participate in work being coordinated by other members of the department, as necessary Identify and, as directed by supervisor, implement continuous improvement measures with a focus on systemization and fit-for-purpose solutions Lend expertise to regulatory advocacy efforts, as needed Qualifications: Basic/Required: Legally authorized to work in the United States Bachelor’s degree or higher in an engineering, science or related technical field 3 years of environmental regulatory experience Willing and able to work on the North Slope, 14 days on and 14 days off Preferred: Master’s degree or higher in engineering or science 5 years of environmental regulatory experience Working knowledge of Exploration and Production (E&P) field operations 5 years overseeing contractor performance Working knowledge of Arctic environments—both on- and off-shore Working knowledge of Alaska and federal environmental and land use regulations; including NEPA and its application to oil and gas exploration and production operations Experience implementing complex compliance programs Working knowledge of project management processes and tools (e.g., project planning, prioritization, scheduling, critical path analysis, cost tracking) Takes ownership of actions and follows through on commitments by courageously dealing with important problems, holding others accountable, and standing up for what is right Delivers results through realistic planning to accomplish goals Builds strong relationships based on trust and seeks opportunities to collaborate across the matrix/organizational boundaries to achieve business goals To be considered for this position you must complete the entire application process, which includes answering all prescreening questions and providing your eSignature on or before the requisition closing date of June 25, 2018 .
